Javascript

Status: You need to enable Javascript.
Javascript is required to handle some of the interactions - for example, the practicals pass data back to the main page - and to generate many of the equations in MathML. We use Peter Jipsen's excellent ASCIIMathML to render most of the equations you will see.

Flash

If the box below shows an animated molecule, you are able to view the Flash content.

You need the flash player to view this content. You can get it from www.adobe.com

The Flash plugin can be downloaded from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH

Shockwave

If the box below shows an animated molecule you should be able to view the Shockwave content.

You need Shockwave player to use this interactive.

The Shockwave plugin can be downloaded from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-SHOCKWAVE

MathML

If the equation below looks similar to this , you are able to view the MathML content.

`x_(1,2)=(-b+-sqrt(b^2-4a c))/(2a)`

Internet Explorer 7 and 8 can display MathML content with the free MathPlayer plugin from Design Sciences.

Mozilla Firefox 2 and 3 can format MathML, but needs some extra fonts for certain characters. The STIX fonts fix the problem you might see above with the square root symbol being too high.

Opera 9 only handles presentational MathML, and so does not display the content MathML generated on these pages.
